The Chinese Language Center (CLC) was established on August 1, 2024 as a division of the Chia Nan University of Pharmacy and Science (CNU) Center for General Education. The CLC is currently staffed with a director, two administrative teachers and an assistant. Both the director and the administrative teachers are fully qualified in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.

1. Features of the CLC

Equipped with professional teachers, an excellent learning environment and plentiful opportunities for direct interaction with local students, the CLC provides international students with a comprehensive language learning experience. Our goal is to ensure learners succeed in their Chinese studies, while at the same time allowing them to become immersed in Taiwan’s culture. In addition to regular language classes, the CLC offers a wide range of extra learning opportunities, such as cultural courses and visits to sites of historical and cultural interest, which we hope will deepen our overseas students’ understanding of Taiwan’s rich cultural heritage.

2. Goals of the CLC

(1) To offer a curriculum design and teaching strategies firmly grounded in second language acquisition theory and research.

(2) To integrate the teaching of Chinese language with hands on experience of Tainan’s culture and creative industries.

(3) To offer strong practical support for students to ensure they live and study safely and happily at CNU.

(4) To safeguard the educational rights of overseas students at CNU.
